NYC Vegan Restaurant Guide

Hello friends! I get asked all the time about my favorite vegan-friendly restaurants in New York City, so I thought it was about time that I created a guide for you listing all my favorite spots. I’ll do my best to frequently update this guide with new spots I try and love! Restaurants are listed in alphabetical order. Their website or social media page is linked to the restaurant name.

BERSI ETHIOPIAN RESTAURANT

Brooklyn | Ethiopian | fully vegan

This is a spot where you can tell the food was made with so much love. Named after Bersi herself, this spot has delicious food, tea and even baklava. The vibes in here feel so peaceful and cozy. It’s a little out of the way, but totally worth it in my opinion.

BUDDHA BODAI

Manhattan | Chinese | mostly vegan

If you’re looking for more authentic Chinese food at a reasonable price, Buddha Bodai is where it’s at. I’ve personally only been to the one on Mott Street, although there is a similarly named restaurant close by. They claim to be vegetarian and kosher, however it seems like basically everything on the menu is vegan, just ask if you’re unsure though. The restaurant is located in the Chinatown neighborhood of Manhattan, which makes it feel even more like a truly authentic experience.

CHLOE ON BLEECKER

Manhattan | fully vegan | cute aesthetic

Chloe on Bleecker has become the new and trendy go-to spot, especially for brunch. Chef Chloe is the former owner of By Chloe, which later became Beatnic. This new spot is located in the same location as one of her orignal restaurants. Brunch is very popular here, but I also love going for dinner as well.

CLEMENTINE BAKERY

Brooklyn | cafe | fully vegan

Clementine is a cafe and restaurant located in Brooklyn. Their vegan pastries are from Le Petit Monstre, which I have listed further below. They have some pastries, several bowls, wraps and sandwiches, as well as creative and yummy drinks. Note that most of their seating is outdoors, so it might be best to go here on a day with nice weather.

DAHON VEGAN

Manhattan | sushi | fully vegan

Dahon is my favorite vegan sushi spot. They’re located inside of Canal Street Market in Chinatown, which has lots of other Asian-inspired food spots, as well as games and a little cute little market. It’s a convenient location close to SoHo and several train lines.

DELICE & SARRASIN

Manhattan | French | fully vegan | upscale

I’ve only been to Delice & Sarrasin once so far but I was quite impressed. French food is notoriously non-vegan friendly, so this spot is such a treat. It’s more of an upscale spot, so I would recommend dressing up a little bit if possible. And be sure to try their brie, it’s one of my favorite vegan cheeses I’ve ever tried.

GARDEN CARVER

Brooklyn | cafe | fully vegan | cute aesthetic

Garden Carver is such a cute little spot and one of my favorites for a cute lunch with friends. I really love their BLT and they also have some delicious wine options. So if you’re in the Williamsburg area, be sure to stop by!

IPPUDO V

Brooklyn | Japanese | fully vegan

I’ve only been to ippudo V once so far, but I still decided to add them to this list because they have the best vegan ramen I’ve tasted in NYC so far. I got the “pla-ton tonkotsu”, which was so flavorful and perfectly filling. I also really loved the “maitake tempura”, which is a fried mushroom appetizer. The location is also not too far from the Brooklyn Bridge which has several beautiful parks, as well as walking and biking paths nearby.

JERRELL’S BETR BRGR

Manhattan | burgers | fully vegan

Jerrell’s has locations in SoHo and New Jersey. This is currently my favorite burger spot, especially since it doesn’t bother sensitive tummy. Their burgers are delicious and I also love their waffle fries. The SoHo location only has outdoor seating, so it’s best to go on a nice day or just take your food to go.

LADYBIRD

Manhattan | aesthetic | fully vegan

Ladybird is located in the East Village and has both brunch and dinner options. The interior feels lush, with velvet seating and gold accents. I’ve only been here for brunch so far, but it’s still one of my favorite spots I’ve tried in NYC. I hope to go back soon and maybe check out their dinner menu next time!

LE PETIT MONSTRE

Brooklyn | cafe | fully vegan | laptop friendly

Of course Le Petit Monstre had to go on the list. This spot is my favorite cafe/bakery in NYC, and it even becomes a wine bar in the evening! The pastries are delicious and it’s a great spot to work on your laptop from as well. You have to try their croissants and cinnamon rolls, they’re the best vegan ones in the city. I personally love working on my laptop from here all day, and then staying for a glass of wine in the evening.

RAS PLANT BASED

Multiple locations | Ethiopian | fully vegan

If you’ve never tried Ethiopian food, you’re in for a treat. This spot has delicious, flavorful, well-seasoned dishes and delicious drinks. They have locations in Manhattan and Brooklyn, both of which have such cute decor and great vibes.

SCREAMERS

Brooklyn | pizzeria | fully vegan

If you visit NYC and don’t eat some pizza, did you even really visit NYC? This spot might be a little out of the way, but I feel like it’s worth it. They have so many different types of vegan slices, you’re sure to find some new favorites.

SPICY MOON

Manhattan | Chinese | fully vegan

This is a great spot for any time of day, but I particularly like going here for dinner. They have cute decor, fun lighting and delicious food. This is a perfect spot for a birthday dinner or even just a casual lunch.

SPRING CAFE

Manhattan | Asian | fully vegan

Spring Cafe is located in China town and offers both eastern Asian food and comfort food such as burgers and healthy salads. The restaurant is small and has no public restroom, but the food is delicious and the prices are reasonable. It’s a cute little spot with friendly staff and I like to go whenever I happen to be in the area.

VEGGIE CASTLE

Queens | Guyanese | fully vegan

This spot is quite a bit out of the way from everything, aside from JFK airport. But if you’re in the area, or willing to make the trip out to try some vegan Guyanese food, it’s worth it in my opinion. Keep in mind, this is a take out only spot, and there really isn’t anywhere to eat your food within walking distance. But the food is delicious and the portions are generous.

VERY FRESH NOODLES

Manhattan | Chinese | vegan options

Very Fresh Noodles is located in Chelsea Market and is almost always super busy. But I would say with good reason! The portion sizes are quite large and it’s so fun to watch them pull the gigantic noodles in front of you. It’s a great option for groups since there are vegan and non-vegan options.
